Spring is galaxy season, and also the most dreadful season for stargazing in Taipei – you get your hopes up for clear skies during the day, only to be met with clouds at night.
We did have our favorites, though!
- NGC 5907 (Splinter Galaxy) in the Draco constellation. It has a magnitude between 10~11, so it’s even more challenging in Taipei’s Bortle 7 sky.
- C21 or NGC 4449 (Box Galaxy) in Canes Venatici, magnitude 9.6~10.0
- M64 (Black Eye Galaxy) in Coma Berenices, magnitude +8.5
We pointed the Seestar S30 at a few other galaxies to collect more data, but yah, nah, we’re not making much progress.
